“ My rating for atmosphere is actually “11”. Character oozes from the pores of this place. Chili, burgers, nachos, gumbo, steaks, tequila and beer. There is no dive bar “vibe” . . . This is a Dive Bar by which others are judged. Make the trip. Cheers. ”
“ This is a must see and eat place in Austin. The food and service were excellent. We were greeted with smiles and seated quickly. Our waitress explained the menu and the top selections. The food came out quick and hot. The Texas chili is the best for you meat eaters. No beans, just meat. I personally had the lunch special which was an enchilada and a tamale both covered in a chili of your choice and served with rice and beans. My kids got a patty melt and a bacon cheeseburger and my wife got a cup of veggie chili. We destroyed it all and left happy and full. And all for under 50. The atmosphere was eccentric and felt like an old roadside chili bar. I loved it. It got packed by 12:00 with a lot of locals. They know what’s up! Don’t miss out on one good meal at an affordable price at the Texas Chili Parlor. ”
“ Delicious food at a reasonable price, in a great, no-nonsense atmosphere. My friend and I had just been complaining about how most places blare music at you to try to make you think you're having a good time, but just make it hard to have a conversation. We immediately noticed that in the Texas Chili Parlor, there is none of that. Just the sounds of people having a good time, without a pumped-up soundtrack. The server was friendly and helpful without being fake bubbly. It was the perfect place to enjoy great chili, eggs, Tex-Mex, and steak. ”
“ Confirmed. This chili is delicious. Huge chunks of roast beef. The XX spicy is the way to go. Old school Austin vibe up to the bartender. ”
“ Y’all! Chili Parlor is as old school as it gets! Chili, burgers and enchiladas, including the daily specials are pretty damn good. Gumbo also the gumbo! It’s a vibe! ”
“ The XXX Hot Chunky Beef Chili tasted really good but wasn't very hot but it came with pickled jalapenos and Louisiana hot sauce which really helped. The White Pork Chili, Venison, and Gumbo were all pretty good. We got a side of Fritos to eat with the chilli. My only complaint is that the server asked if we wanted cheese and sour cream with the dishes and didn't mention it costs more. ”
“ We are always looking for good places to eat in Austin while visiting our daughter in college. It's hard to find somewhere with good atmosphere AND good food. 10/10 on the food. The texas sampler appetizer, amazing!! Their is a huge variety with many different options but we went the steak and enchilada route and have ZERO complaints on any of the food we got. Absolutely amazing and really enjoyed! Not the mention the really great prices. Will definitely be coming back! ”
“ Never disappoints! Steak is always delicious and perfectly cooked, I love all the chili options, but the black bean venison has been my recent go-to... great atmosphere and service! ”
